The National Alliance of Methadone Advocates (NAMA) is an organization of methadone patients and patients receiving other medications to treat opiate dependence, their families and healthcare and medical professionals. Therefore this website reflects the collaberative efforts between patients and professionals. NAMA is respected world wide as the premier methadone advocacy organization, considers it a responsiblity and works hard to maintain it.

Website Policy

Information provided by NAMA, whether from this website or from publications come from trained and qualified healthcare professionals, researchers or policy makers. The authorship of documents on this website includes affiliation and often contact information. Medical advice offered from a non-medically qualified individual or organisation will have a clear statement of it’s origin.

NAMA strongly urges that individuals seeking advise obtain it from trained and qualified professionals. If you need assistance in seeking help place contact NAMA.

The exception to this rule is our discussion forum, We Speak Methadone. Although qualified professionals use the forum, we strongly advise that information provided there is never intended to replace medical advise but rather be a place for support and resources.

NAMA always advises members that although the internet contains an incredible amount of information that it should never be a replacement for medical care. NAMA urges that you exercise caution and judgment while using the internet.

Privacy and Confidentiality

NAMA is sensitive to the stigma and prejudice that methadone patients experience daily. All information provided to NAMA will be held strictly confidential in the same manner as the patients protections described in the U.S. Confidentiality Regulations 42 CRF. NAMA does not use cookies and will never take your email address without first having your permission. This is your website and NAMA wants you to feel secure and protected here.

Affiliates and Chapters

NAMA affiliates and chapters follow the same policy set forth from the national organization. Affiliates and chapters are supported through various means and some receive funding and others depend solely on resources that are given to the group. However, the majority of affiliates and chapters are supported by the leadership of each group.

Funding

NAMA does not received funding from the government or private foundations. The only source of support is from membership dues. Therefore we depend on you for continued support. On occasion NAMA projects may receive funding or other forms of support. In these instances the source of funding is noted depending on the type of support received.
