Welcome to The President’s Office and to the National Alliance for Medication Assisted Recovery or NAMA Recovery.
NAMA Recovery has gone through some significant changes in the past few years. We are proud of the MARS Project the first project of its kind that provides recovery services to patients receiving Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). As MARS enters the 10th year of services we have come to realize that MARS creates the kind of program that was first started by Drs. Dole and Nyswander. It is a community of patients helping patients and that is how the first program worked. And MARS has expanded so now there are 17 MARS Projects in the U.S. and also in Vietnam.
Receiving the Grant has also forced us to clean up the organizational business that we often allowed to slide. After all we all basically do this because we wanted to help other patients and doing organizational tasks was not our favorite thing to do. But with a little pain now and then — and hard work we have grown into a real organization.
We will continue to train advocates at each AATOD Conference, handle grievances, mentor new chapters and our international affiliates and represent patients just as we have in the past because we still believe that the patient comes first.
