I receive periodic updates from the DPA (Drug Policy Alliance) and as a result of one update I just received I decided to go check out their online store.

In addition to the terrific illustrated 2011 calendar I just purchased as a Xmas gift they have a ton of great pamphlets and books, some of which are free. Their pamphlet "on methadone and burenorphine" costs $1 each; I ordered a few out of curiosity. Considering their views on the drug war and prohibition I think it's safe to say it should be pretty good - the details do mention that it highlights some of the issues facing advocates today. It actually looks pretty similar to the SAMSHA pamphlet I know I have copies of at home - I wonder if it's the same thing?

I highly recommend everyone check them out - part of your order will also be tax deductible as they are an accredidted non-for-profit. Also some great Christmas Gift Ideas for that activist in your life. I was going to order the "No More Drug War" shirt which I absolutely love; unfortunately I'm pretty broke and had to remind myself that I should be thinking about *other* people not myself! :)

There was a post by a user who was looking for another type of Forum,I believe. Abby banned him. He did speak broken English and is involved with Policy Changes over in the Balkins. So some folks might of thought it was Jibberish, but it wasn't. He has written to me about issues he was having a few times in the last year. We need to remember to Welcome everyone who comes aboard, not spammers of course. But there are MAT patients all over the world and English is their 2nd language so we need to be patient with them. Not everyone who comes here is instantly Educated and will Speak Methadone 101.

I deleted the post, otherwise I would of had to lock the discussion.

Just another day in the life of Rokki.... :geek:

No worries anyone...even *I* have to remember not to knee jerk re-act...

Peace-out

Wow...I've never received "Hate Mail " from someone like this before...Hahah. I guess it comes with the "Hat" huh?

I have to remember not to take it personal. They are angry due to beliefs and everyone is entitled to their beliefs no matter where they live. At least to me they are. I'm a firm believer of not 'feeding the monkey',meaning the best thing for me to do is not answer it and take a deep breath....let it go and breath again and go on with my day...:)

Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

Happy Thursday everyone.... :D

He was looking for more of a political forum I am sure. I got a hate mail from him and just deleted it. A lot of stigma comes from patients themselves. usually due to bad treatment. Dr Tom Payte wrote a piece titled "Bad Medicine or Bad Treatment". His site is jtpayte@jtpayte.com he is the author of the original Dear Dr letter, well him and Dr Marc, who I adore...Herman Joseph, who I also adore wrote his dissertation on Stigma. At 1st I balked at it,what do mean it's the patients I questioned??? But if you stop and think about it where did we hear so much stigma about MAT? In line at the clinic, thats where you hear "Clients" and the "Clean & Dirty" talk etc etc... But if each of us corrects that person and they do 'get it' they will pass it along as well. It's like that shampoo commercial"She told 2 friends and so on and so on"

It really puts a smile in my heart when I hear my words coming back at me and with so much passion too...I love it when Patients start to educate themselves.

I really believe in "Give them a fish and they will eat,but Teach them to fish and they will never starve again"....My system is crashing back to back so I hope this post makes it...... :? :? :? :?

Peace-Out
